Reported breaking news and features related to the 85th Texas Legislature. Filed two to four stories a week, contributed coverage on the “bathroom bill” and sanctuary cities and focused on a bill that would make it harder for homeowners to sue insurance companies for damage to their property. Live-tweeted chamber proceedings and committee hearings. Gathered content for daily and bi-weekly newsletters about politics, education and water.

Won School Bell Award from Texas State Teachers Association for a story on moonlighting teachers that demonstrated excellence in public education coverage. Contributed to election coverage with features on the polls, tension in schools and an exclusive interview with Newt Gingrich. Covered breaking news stories about crime, traffic and weather.

Created recruitment video, which was viewed 445 times in 47 different countries. Assisted in production of 26-page brochure to recruit 30 staff members and 80 delegates. Filmed videos for campaign that documented 14 Northwestern students’ experiences with race. Devised delegate applications and evaluated 50 comprehensive entries with help of 10-person committee. Coordinated visas, travel logistics and distribution of financial aid for 20 international delegates. Organized a photo exhibition and an auction for art relating to social change
